"RATED 9 out of 10" (www.reasonfreaks.com)
An in-depth review of this huge library has just appeared online at www.reasonfreaks.com. Here's the full text of the review:
Like: High quality/Fat sounds. A very complete product.
Dislike: No multi-samples. Not much looped samples (sustained).
Content: For the people who produce trance, techno or a similar style of dance, Zero-G has the stuff you need to get these kinds of compositions going. They prove it again with this new release named Wired - The Elements Of Trance. This massive 500 mb refill [which is really over a gigabyte of sounds, but was compressed into this refill using the Refill Packer tool] is packed to the rim with highly up to date drumloops, bassloops, synthloops and more. If you need a truly great addition to your sample collection especialy to brew up some great sounding trance or techno look no further. Wired is actualy the Reason refill version of the coming Zero-G/Native Instruments plugin named also Wired - The Elements Of Trance. Let's check it out.
What's in the refill: Over 930 Rx2 loops, Over 600 NN-19 patches, 20 ReDrum Kits, Over 300 single percussion sounds.
The Rex Files You will find more then 930 rx2 files in this refill. That's really one BIG bunch of loops. The loops are nicely divided into categories. You have 2 main categories, one which holds the drumloops and the other which holds the grooveloops. The grooveloops section includes bass, synth, piano, guitar, fx and ambient intro loops. These loops are just so much fun to play with. And of course great to use in your compositions. Let's have a closer look at each one of these categories:
Drumloops In the drumloop folder you will find all sorts of variations to the term Drumloop. You will find loops which only have a kick or percussion, and you'll find loops which are a full groove. The overall quality is amazing and it's a very usable collection of drumloops. The different loops combine nicely into more complex rhythms. You get quite a bunch of drumloops to mess around with. All the drumloops have a tempo of 140 Bpm. A cool thing is that almost all the loops come in multiple variations. So if you like to use one you don't need to start cutting to get some variations which you'll need. Some loops which are part of multiple varieties have been processed independantly from the other variations. That's a thing I would have liked to see different. Now the less parts a loop will have the louder it gets compared to it's variations. Not all loops are exclusively drums. Some of the loops have some other little sounds in them to make things a bit more attractive. I like that a lot. It helps to get the groove in them. You won't only find trance loops in here. Many loops are also usable for other genres like chemical, techno, house etc. Of course you can use the individual hits so the application of these loops is infinite. Great building blocks which will get you in the groove!!
Grooveloops The grooveloops folder contains everything which does not fit in the drum category. Leads, buzzers, basses, pads, ambiences etc, etc. A vast and powerful collection of loops to go with the drumloops. Instant trance and/or techno, but also, for ppl who don't like the instant effect, it's a party to mix, split and process these sounds just the way you like them. A lot of great sounding synths have been used to come up with this collection of sounds. Some really fat analog bass loops are present to give you the right bottom. And to get your acid tracks going in the right direction you will find a bunch of really cool acid loops which mainly feature the world famous 303. For the Ibiza-like house producers there are also sounds included. You will find a nice set of soft sounding guitar and piano loops. These loops pull you right into the atmosphere needed to create such tracks. The quality of these grooveloops is great. All sounds have enough body to be used directly in your productions.
The NN-19/NN-XT Patches The sampler patches all consist of 1 sample. This would normally raise my eyebrows but in case of this collection it doesn't. The sounds all transpose perfectly over a range big enough for them to be more then useful. Most samples are also short, with some of them looped to sustain them. The quality of the samples in the sampler category is just outstanding. All sounds are crystal clear with the exception of some intentional noise. The bass collection is my absolute favourite. Many short bass sounds which all sound very analog and super fat. This collection will get your composition to sound just soo fat. You will find sounds in different folders which you can all put to good use. You will find Acid Shots, Atmos, Basses, FX, Piano, Sabs & Jabs and Sweeps. A collection of essential sounds which arm you with the right kind of tools for the job. Maybe some more looped sounds would have been nice and a few real multisamples but to get the job done you'll find more then enough.
The NN-19/NN-XT Loops The sampler loop patches are realy cool!! This is something which got me playing for a long time. It's very cool and highly inspirational to just slam and jam with these loops in the sampler. Each patch contains a number of loops laid out on the keyboard. Starting from C1 and going up only on the white keys. So it's really easy and fun to start jamming with these loops. The only thing I would like to mention with the drumloops is that I would like to have more of them :) But that's not really a con, it's more like a compliment. You will find drumloops and grooveloops in the sampler loops folder. The grooveloops contain various collections of loops for you to play with. You have Acid, Ambient, Bass, FX, Orchestral, Piano, Pads, Synth and percussion loops. Great material to use in your tracks and to build inspiration with. I really enjoyed playing with them.
The Redrum Sounds/Kits The drumkits have been configured just right. With the hihats on channel 8 & 9 and the snare on 3 etc. You will find some really cool kits in there like 4 times an 808 and a 909 kit to get you all sorts of different drum variations from these drum computers which are essential for the serious dance producer. Not only are they complete, they sound great too. In addition to these drumkits you will find some more style specific drumkits, under which are House, Tec-Trance and Trance kits. All configured great, for optimum comfort while playing them. All drumsounds are powerful and without noise or other unwanted stuff. Just great drumkits which will arm you with the right type of drums for the job of creating dance (trance).
Conclusion 'Wired - Elements of Trance' is a great sound collection. It does what it promises and even more. You will find a huge collection of sounds suited to create dance, trance, techno and house. But it's kinda useless to mention this. Of course the majority will be used for these genres, but I think the sounds are also usable in other genres. The sound quality is just great. Some of the sounds really are very fat and analog sounding. Which in turn enables you to add some very fat and analog sounds to your tracks. Wired is a 526 Mb refill filled with cool sounds for a price which is really low when you look at the amount of sounds you get. Owners of 'Total Trance' will get that collection again, since it's incorporated for free into this collection. But Zero-G assures us that the majority (60%) is brand new material. A great sound collection at an affordable price if you ask me.
