"...Nu Jointz makes better use of the construction kit possibilities of Intakt. With about a Gigabyte of sample data, there is a good range of downtempo loops featuring drums, electric and acoustic bass, guitars, piano, turntable scratches and even the occasional trombone loop for good measure. The preset instruments are clearly organised... very easy to get at what you might want to audition... The material itself is quite gritty, so this is definitely hip-hop territory rather than R&B. In particular, the drum loops, many of which have had some lo-fi processing applied, would sit quite happily within some of the less cheery contemporary hip-hop and rap-based tracks around the charts at present. The majority of the drum loop presets include two or more loops mapped in various ways across the keyboard and this does make it easy to mix and match between each small collection of loops... The fun is in triggering the loops from a keyboard, and just experimenting to see what can be created... it is easy to see how a complete bed could be created from the loops provided.. Whatever your views might be on music by construction kit, the way the Nu Jointz library has been implemented with Intakt certainly makes it easy and adds a certain creative element..."

NU JOINTZ includes a stunning new state-of-the-art plug-in audio engine/interface from NATIVE INSTRUMENTS which is specifically designed for rhythmic loop playback, manipulation, and mayhem.
The convenient one-screen interface is based on (and provides all the sound manipulation tools of) NI's new INTAKT sampler, and features tremendous sound shaping abilities without disrupting the creative flow, including a first-class multimode filter, an envelope follower, two LFOs, effects, and more. The loops have been set up so that they can be automatically synced to tempo, either via the Beat Machine or the Time Machine. The Beat Machine has loops divided into their individual hits (slices) which means they can be played at a wide range of tempos without any change in pitch. It also allows the user to give each hit individual settings for pitch, playback direction, pitch envelope, amp envelope, distortion, delay, and more; a MIDI file of each loop can be easily exported so that groove, accent, and feel can be manipulated in any host sequencer. The Time Machine time-stretches or compresses loops in real time. Not only can you sync, stretch, and pitch the loops, but also filter, effect and modulate them as well! A powerful sound-shaping filter, flexible envelopes, syncable LFOs, and distortion, syncable delay, and lo-fi effects can inject even more energy and individuality into the loops. Since the software interface is based on the KONTAKT engine, working with it is fast, easy, and it sounds great!

IMPORTANT: To avoid confusion, we would like to point out that the Native Instruments software powering this product is not a "PLAYER" but an INSTRUMENT. The software included is a complete Virtual Instrument called INTAKT INSTRUMENT, which is a specialized and streamlined version of the NI KONTAKT sampler and also uses the KONTAKT audio engine. The INTAKT INSTRUMENT should not be confused with the much more basic "KONTAKT PLAYER" interface as included with some other companies' products, which is simply a 'player' of libraries in Kontakt format and has very little editing functionality. That is obviously very different from the INTAKT INSTRUMENT, which includes the most used controls from KONTAKT and even many powerful new features, and allows massive editing of the included sound library. The INTAKT INSTRUMENT which powers NU JOINTZ is a much more powerful creative tool than the "KONTAKT PLAYER".
